  About This Book

Eric Baird made the decision to abandon modern conveniences and his prejudiced family for a simple island life. He has a small cabin and a lagoon all to himself and, though he's sometimes lonely, he's mostly relieved that he can finally be free.

But one lazy afternoon swim takes a dangerous turn when a cramp has Eric struggling not to drown. Suddenly, someone saves him, and he's ever so grateful...until he sees who it is.

Tyfodorus is a Cecaelia who has a rather human upper body and a definitely squid lower half. As if a mersquid in his lagoon isn't enough to knock the socks off Eric, Ty lets him know they're here to breed. Would Eric be the host to Ty's six eggs? Pretty please?

Eric gets to know Ty and agrees, resulting in some amazing sex and six little highly intelligent, totally adorable hatchlings. As they adjust to living as a family in the lagoon, they also have to understand just how genetically compatible they are, deal with a shipwreck survivor, and make plans for their future together.

This 36,000-word/160-page book has a sweet and sexy instalove story with tentacles in naughty places, low angst, some mpreg-ish moments, and a bunch of cute alien babies with an HEA ending.

  Chapter One

As Eric watched the workmen march away from the house and down the hill toward the beach for the last time, a sense of peace washed over him. He smiled and heaved a sigh. They were finished. Nearly six months of work, but it had been worth it. Now his private island had a two-story cottage with indoor plumbing and a nice big tool shed. He could sit on his porch every morning and drink his first cup of coffee while looking out over the turquoise lagoon.

No more living on his yacht. He was finally home.

He waved as the last man got on the boat for the trip back to Kauai, Hawaii. Alone at last after months of work, he took another walk around his little house.

It was a hell of a step down from his family’s many extravagant homes, but Eric had never really needed much. He counted small things as luxuries now: his plush little bed, the satellite service for internet and TV, all the fish he could eat, an almost fully enclosed lagoon he could swim in, and endless tropical days. He even liked the fact that it rained at least once a day! He was turning into a big-time reader, too, filling his tablet with tons of books and not feeling one ounce of guilt for spending hours just sitting and reading.

In fact, he was going to do some of that right now. Grabbing his tablet from the porch, Eric got his beach umbrella and paused in the garden for some lettuce. He hiked down to the lagoon where he’d left his new Adirondack chair half-submerged in the water. It was his favorite place to relax.

And, since he was now the sole inhabitant of this little private island, Eric dropped his shorts and took off his shirt before he settled into the water under his umbrella. Warm sea water was one of the best sensations in the world. He took a deep breath and sighed it out, deliciously comfortable.

Though buying the island and fixing it up had taken a huge bite out of his trust fund, he didn’t regret it at all. He didn’t want to think about all the reasons he’d left everything behind to live alone on an island. The pain and betrayal would resurface in his mind often enough as it was. But, so far, living here was better in every way. He could breathe and relax here. Maybe it wouldn’t be for the rest of his life, but it was what he needed right now.

Pushing all of that out of his mind, Eric rested his tablet on one of the chair’s arms, careful not to get it wet despite its waterproof case. He leaned forward to find a nice rock to hold the lettuce down. He’d discovered that if he was still and patient, the colorful fish living in the reefs of the lagoon would come over and nibble the lettuce. While he wasn’t quite sure what kind of fish all of them were, he was determined to learn about them. These were, after all, his neighbors now.

It was only a few minutes before he felt a little nip at his leg hairs that let him know his fishy friends were here. These ones were black, white, and yellow with long snouts that nipped off bits of lettuce like it was the most awesome thing they’d ever eaten. Satisfied that everyone was having a good time, Eric sat back and started reading.

Though the book was a good one with sword-fighting and sexually adventurous pirates, Eric found himself beginning to doze after a couple hours. He turned off his tablet and set it down, before running his hands slowly over his abs and thighs, giving his cock a slow stroke. Maybe some me time before a nice nap? The warm salt water did feel good.

Closing his eyes, Eric let his mind and hands wander. What if some pirates showed up in his lagoon? Maybe they’d need his help to satisfy their every desire? He chuckled to himself as he stroked his cock and angled his hips so it poked partway out of the water. The breeze over the head made him shudder and his balls bobbed in the water as he rocked his hips. He reached down to lightly finger himself and groaned up at the umbrella.

For just a moment, he wished he weren’t alone on this island. But the last man he’d loved and his betrayal was a big part of the reason Eric had sailed away from his entire life. He was better off alone.

Eric tipped his head back and pretended it was a horny pirate standing over him, casting a shadow across him as he watched Eric. There’d be a smirk on his deeply tanned face and maybe he’d twirl his mustache while he palmed himself through flimsy breeches, his dark eyes never straying from Eric’s fist as he stroked himself higher and higher. More pirates would soon be near, all watching, all waiting for Eric to come. They’d start telling him what they’d do to him, how they’d fuck him and suck him, how they’d make him service them for hours on end.

With a holler, Eric came, his cock jerking and spewing into the crystal-clear water. He laughed again at his fantasy, knowing full well that it would never happen like that. Slowly coming back down again, he swished the cloudy water away before closing his eyes and relaxing. This is the life.

The next time Eric opened his eyes, the sun was behind him, heading toward sunset. He sat up and stretched, marveling that he really did feel renewed living here. He might have a lot less taking up his time, but he felt calmer now than he ever had back in New York. He’d needed this.

And now he needed a swim. He knew the deeper parts of the lagoon where he didn’t have to worr
y about coral or other sharp things, so he got up and headed over there. He wasn’t any sort of a professional when it came to swimming, but he knew how to keep his head above water and move enough to feel the exercise of it. He set off across the deepest part of the lagoon.

Suddenly, a cramp seized his left calf. The intense pain had him flailing and he went under. He came up gasping and coughing. He needed to get to the beach. It wasn’t far. Oh no, oh god. It hurt so fucking much and he was floundering like an idiot. Like a drowning man. No! There was literally no one here to help him. They wouldn’t find his body for weeks—if anyone thought to check on him at all. He had to do this alone. He had to save himself.

But he went under again instead.

Suddenly, someone grabbed his arms and brought him to the surface. He choked and gasped and choked some more, but he wasn’t going to die. His savior propelled them toward the beach and let Eric go when enough of him was out of the water that he could touch both sand and grass.

“Th-thank you,” he managed in between desperate lungfuls of air. “I thought I was…was going to die.”

A large hand touched his back, gently patting. “I could not allow that to happen.”

Eric nodded at the sand, fingers pressed to his forehead, while his other hand gripped the grass in front of him. He didn’t know who this man was, but he assumed he was one of the workers. And he’d missed their boat leaving—not that Eric wouldn’t be extremely hospitable because he absolutely would be.

With one last deep breath and feeling like he might survive now, Eric brushed the sand from his hands and sat up. He had a thought about the fact he was naked, but then all his thoughts vanished when he saw the person who had saved him.

“Oh my god! What the hell are you?”

Because whatever he was, he wasn’t human. For one thing, he had blue skin very like the turquoise water he stood in. But no, he wasn’t standing, because Eric could see honest-to-god tentacles holding the upper half of the guy out of the water. Some were thick and darker blue, while others were slender and pale, but all of them were where the dude’s legs should’ve been.

He was half man and half squid.

He reached one hand toward Eric—because his upper half was human-looking with wide shoulders and a toned chest, two muscular arms, and ten fingers—but Eric flinched back, and the guy withdrew.

  “Please do not be afraid.”

His lips were full, blue, and partially concealing what seemed to be a single tooth that curved like a beak. Which kind of made sense in Eric’s addled brain because this guy was part squid and squids had beaks for mouths. But this guy had lips, a human mouth.

“I would not have saved you if I meant you any harm.”

Eric blinked a few times, his brain catching up. The guy had a point there. “Okay.”

Tentacles moved under the surface and a few above, stealing all of Eric’s attention again. It was kind of fascinating how all of them coordinated to propel the guy forward. Toward him. Eric held up his hand. “Hold on. Just wait a minute.”

He stopped moving and twined his fingers together, his expression from pursed lips to big blue eyes saying he was nervous. About what?

“I merely wish to ensure you are well.” He leaned a tiny bit closer. “Are you well?”

That was… That was kind of cute. Eric found himself smiling just a little as he said, “Yeah, I’m okay. And thank you. I did mean that. Thank you.”

He relaxed and stopped fidgeting so much as he smiled. “You are most welcome.”

But then Eric flexed his leg and his cramp came screaming back. “Fuck,” he hollered. “Oh my god.”

Suddenly, two tentacles as thick around as his wrist thrust up from the water and wrapped around Eric’s calf from knee to ankle. He gasped and tugged, but some sane part of his brain kicked in and he realized the undulating tentacles were helping massage the cramp away.

  “Does this help?”

Eric could only nod as he stared at those tentacles. He wasn’t some internet novice who’d never accidentally discovered there was a whole subset of porn devoted to tentacled creatures from the deep that had their way with many a man or woman who’d stumbled onto the wrong beach. He’d read enough stories and seen enough comics to admit it had intrigued him.

But like having a bunch of horny pirates from the late-eighteenth century showing up to ravish him, he’d never once thought he’d find himself in one of those tentacle porn stories.

“You must feel much better,” the guy said with a smirk as he slowly let Eric’s leg go, the tentacles slipping back under the surface. Those blue eyes flicked down near Eric’s waist.

Nope, he was looking at Eric’s cock. At his burgeoning erection. Eric slapped a hand over himself, winced, and said, “Sorry. It’s, uh, the adrenaline. Sorry.”

“I do not mind. What you did with it earlier was inspiring as well.”

What he did with it— “You watched me jerk off?”

“Is that what you call it?”

Eric choked on half a dozen words before he shut his mouth. He wasn’t sure what he should feel, but there was a hefty dose of shame in the mix. A sea monster had watched him masturbate. Good grief. He shocked himself when he had a flashing thought of what those tentacles could’ve contributed.

“I am called Tyfodorus. Do you have a name?”

“I-I’m Eric. Eric Baird.” And he automatically stuck his hand out to shake.

Tyfodorus took it in both of his, sandwiching Eric’s hand between slightly cool and damp flesh that felt a bit like rubber instead of skin.

“Eric, I am here for a very specific purpose, but I wonder if I might adjust that somewhat now that we have met.”

“Oh?” he asked, his voice hitching up high on that one syllable.

“Yes.” He smiled like he was delighted, like everything was going his way, as he tentacle-walked closer and wouldn’t let go of Eric’s hand. “I would like to request your assistance.”

Well, that didn’t sound so bad. “How can I help you?”

“My people are unable to do certain things without aid,” he said as he caressed the back of Eric’s hand. “It is vital to our survival, in fact, that others help us in this way.”

“In what way?” he whispered, but some part of him knew.

  Oh, how he knew.

“I am here to breed, Eric, and I would like to do so with you.”

  Chapter Two

Eric threw himself backward, scrambling up onto his feet and away from Tyfodorus. “Oh hell no! I know how that ends,” he said pointing at the-the-the mersquid staring at him. “I’m not doing that.”

“Another has requested you act as a host?”

  “A host? That’s even worse.”

“Worse?” He frowned up at him. “Eric, I am afraid my comprehension or expression of your language is somehow lacking. May I try again?”

“Nope. Don’t bother.” Eric backed up even further. “I’m not letting you torture and kill me. I don’t care if it—”

“I do not want to torture or kill you!” Eyes wide, he covered his open mouth with both hands. Was he shocked? Horrified? He pressed one hand to the base of his throat and the other to his chest. “Eric, I would never do such things. Though I have never bred before, I am fully aware of what is required of us both and will devote myself to your care throughout the entire process.”

Though his heart beat hard and a little voice in his mind was screaming at him to run, Eric stayed there and asked, “What exactly do you need me to do? Exactly.”

Tyfodorus nodded quickly. “I would feed you an elixir that will relax you and provide sustenance to you. Using my…my…a certain organ of mine, I would then insert my eggs into your body through your nether hole.”

“Ah-ah-ah!” Eric savagely pointed at him. “That right there is the problem. You’re going to stuff me full of eggs that’ll hatch and eat me alive from the inside out.”

Tyfodorus gaped at him. “They would not do that. They would
do nothing like that at all. When they were ready to hatch, the eggs would secrete a chemical that would encourage you to expel them. Once each egg reached the cooler salt water, it would solidify so that I might crack it open, releasing the hatchling within.”

Eric stared at him for a moment. “And then they’ll eat me?”

“No one will eat you!” he yelled before covering his mouth and sinking a little into the water like someone might’ve heard him. “Pardon me,” he said, and Eric half-expected him to straighten his tie or smooth his hair back—not that he had either. “Eric, the entire process is done with the utmost care and respect for the host.”

“Oh.” He swallowed, trying to… Well, just trying.

“I will admit that I do not know of anyone having a human as a host before.” He spoke quietly and to his fingers as he started fidgeting again. “My memories tell me I should select a large animal, but…” He shook his head and sank a little lower into the water. “I found a pig on another island, but all I could think about was how afraid it would be. It would not understand that I meant it no harm, that I would care for it. It would fight for its life until I subdued it.”

Eric sighed. Okay, it was on him for assuming this real-world situation would be like anything the internet said. Because Tyfodorus was either an Oscar-worthy actor or just completely unable to hurt a…pig. And Eric was leaning toward the latter given the fact the guy looked like he might start crying.

“I guess,” Eric said, “being able to explain everything to your host beforehand is a good thing.”
